Entering Ph.D. students are provided one quarter of fellowship funding to complete two 6-week rotations, with the expectation they will join a lab by winter quarter of year one.
Immunology Graduate Group Ph.D. students are provided a competitive living allowance, full-tuition and fees, and NRST (if applicable). Financial support comes from a variety of funding mechanisms: internal fellowships offered by Graduate Studies, external fellowships, NIH T32s, individual NIH awards (F30/F31), and employment, either as a Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) or Teaching Assistant (TA). GSRs and TAs, are covered by Collective Bargaining Agreements. More details can be found here.
Upon joining a lab, a majority of our graduate students are employed as graduate student researchers (GSRs) by the department their major professor is affiliated with.
Financial support is not provided to MS degree students.
NIH Training Grant Fellowships
A number of prestigious NIH-training fellowships are available on a competitive basis for qualified PhD students. Those are usually available following advancement to PhD candidacy (i.e. after passing the qualifying examination) and have varied deadlines. We encourage you to contact the responsible faculty members directly for more information.
Teaching Assistantships
Teaching Assistantships (TA-ships), that offer training opportunities in teaching, are available through affiliated departments.
