The Graduate Group in Immunology at UC Davis is a university-wide interdepartmental graduate program that comprises a group of about 60 faculty and 40 students located in multiple departments within the Schools of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, the College of Agriculture and the College of Engineering as well as the Center for Comparative Medicine and the Center for Vector-borne Diseases.
The current Chair is Dr. Robert Canter. The administrative Coordinator is Erin Kent.
Academic Advisers
Upon entering the program each student is assigned one of currently four academic advisers for the duration of their training. Academic advisers guide the student in all programmatic issues regarding graduate education. These advisers are not to be confused with the faculty mentor, who mentors the student in all research-related matters and who's research laboratory the student will join. PhD students will choose a mentor from the faculty of the group following four laboratory rotations. Choices are made by mutual agreement between the student and the faculty member, in consultation with the academic adviser. M.S. students will be placed directly with a faculty member upon entering the program. Under exceptional circumstances PhD students may also be placed directly with a faculty member.
